Question 1: "Hey I found a piece of your stock I love and want to use, now what?"
If you fine a piece of my stock that you want to use, just do the following steps:
Download the full size version to use.
Create your piece
Upload it to DeviantArt
Make sure to list me as a contributor by copying and pasting the following into the bottom of your description:
This Deviation was made using stock art from matrix7-stock (Insert link to the stock you used here)
After you have done this please post a comment on the stock that you have used so I can go check it out (No messages or notes please as I normally don't have much time to respond. A comment will suffice).
When I get a chance I will check out your work, post a return comment and (maybe) fave it if I REALLY like it, or at least add it to my "Used My Stock" Collection.
That's it! Pretty easy, eh? Now onto Question #2:
Question 2: "I love this piece of stock and would like to use it to create a DeviantArt print to sell. Is that okay?"
Absolutely! Each of my stock photos and resources I submit are for full use inside of DeviantArt (see Question #3). All I ask is that you do the same steps as listed with Question #1. Of course I am flattered if someone wants to make a print with my work and would love to display it, so if you want to send me a print of your work that would be awesome (though totally on a voluntary basis).
Question #3: "I want to use this piece on another web site, or use it in something to feature on my own web site. Is that okay?"
You may use my stock for outside web sites given that you (1) copy and paste the above text near the image in the description of the other site. (2) Give me full credit for use of mu stock. (3) Provide a link to ANY and ALL web sites that you submit my stock to. (4) Do not claim the stock as your own. Once you add to it it is your work, but I will always keep a contributor's status on any and all works created with my stock.
If you do not agree with ALL of these conditions then my stock may not be used. However, if all of the conditions listed above are acceptable and you follow them then yes you may use my stock.
Question #4: "I wish to use your stock commercially, what do I need to do?"
Commercial use permissions will be dealt with on a case-by-case basic. Please send me a Note requesting use of my stock and I will contact you to ask how you plan on using it. If it sounds acceptable I will send you a copyright release for THAT SINGLE USE ONLY. A copyright release for one instance does not mean you have unrestricted use of that stock in the future. One stock, one release, one use. That's the way it works.
Question #5: "I took one of your stocks and tweaked the colors/contrast/etc. to make it look better. Can I submit it to my gallery?"
Unfortunately no. I think this would cause too much confusion as many people do not read descriptions to notice the credit in that particular instance.
Question #6: "I like your stock and would like to collect and distribute it on another web site, can I do this?"
You may feel free to add it to any DeviantArt account collection you have but for external site use no. The only place where my stock may be obtained is through my stock account matrix7-stocks.deviantart.com and occasionally my main account matrix7.deviantart.com. &… you have added my stock to a collection that's fine, but that's it.
Question #7: "I added a nice border to one of your pieces, can I submit this as mine?"
Any work that uses my stock and offers only minor changes that include (but are not limited to): border, watermark, color tweaking, saturation tweaking, minor filter use, close cropping (using only a portion of the stock). If a Deviation is submitted with minor changes like this and I see it or it gets back to me I will notify the admins and request it be removed. All I ask is that you use my stock to inspire you in your own creations and don't rip my stuff off.
Question #8 "I want to use your stock for part of a submission to a DeviantArt contest, if that okay?"
If the rules of the contest state that using stock photography is accepted, then yes you may use my stock as long as you still follow the steps detailed in Question #1 above.
I will update this list as I get more questions concerning my stock. if you have a situation not listed above please feel free to Note/Message me and explain what it is you are needing and I will be happy to help you and update my list here for future reference.
Have fun creating and I look forward to seeing some awesome things!
